Portside Cottage
Another wonderful stay in Wood Islands!
We returned again to Homeport properties for our 7th visit during the past 16 years. The setting is absolutely idyllic – postcard views of the Wood Islands lighthouse, PEI/Nova Scotia NFL ferries, red cliffs, etc. from the kitchen and front porch of the Portside cottage, which is set upon the finest sandy beach in all of PEI. Our 2 year-old grandson very much enjoyed his very own large sandbox, filled with red sand. Wildlife abounds, as we sighted Eagles, Ospreys, seals from the property, and also were able to go clamming at low tide. Leslie and Darryl MacQueen remain ever the consummate hosts. We look forward to returning again soon.

Starboard Cottage
Darryl is a friendly and attentive host. The cottage was very clean and in excellent condition. The location can’t be beat. The cottage is 100′ from the beach and there is a clear view of the Northumberland Strait from the cottage deck. On our first day we were greeted by a Bald Eagle sitting in a tree just down the shore, and we saw eagles almost every day. There were frequent seal sightings and lots of shore birds.

Wonderful property and experience!!
We loved everything about our visit. The home had ample room for our party of 6 – and was stocked with everything we could possibly need. Ocean views are beautiful, took in a morning sunrise on our last day. Love that the confederation rail trail is nearby and we did a long bike trip thru the beautiful secluded countryside. Darryl is a great host, there to help with whatever you need and always a friendly chat in the few times we met. Loved all the firewood, and had campfires outside and woodstove cranking inside on cold evenings. Very cozy.

Crows Nest Cottage
We’ve stayed with Homeport twice now, once with Portside and once with Starboard and Portside. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience both times. Quiet and private on a fantastic beach with a great amount of exposure at low tide for ankle OR knee deep exploration. It’s very clean and well maintained and Darryl is a very friendly and attentive host, Great guy! Never met Leslie but I’m sure you’re a gem too It’s P.E.I after all and everybody seems happy to see you. It’s located on the quiet end of P.E.I but there’s still plenty to do without all hubbub of the center Island vacationing crowd. We LOVE that. We’ll definitely be going back, thanks for everything!

Starboard Cottage
What a wonderful place to relax. We had a fantastic time here. The cottage was very spacious and extremely clean. Everything you need is provided! It has a beautiful deck with lots of seating and a bbq. You are only seconds from the ocean! Low tide is super fun with lots to explore and see. You can even walk out to the light house! Darryl the owner is super nice! He brought us some mackerel down and showed our son how to gut and prepare his own fish…it was delishious. Lots of sand toys and a playground for the kids to play with. If you like clams you can dig for them yourself and coom them up…I am sure Darryl would help if you needed along with his super cute dog Chase! We had a great time and hope to visit again!

Portside Cottage
Everything that we expected and more!
My wife and I spent 5 nights at Portside Cottage and could not have been more pleased with the property. The cottage was neat, very clean, nicely furnished and had a fully equipped kitchen. Darryl the owner is very responsive and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The beach directly in front of the cottage is essentially a private beach for Darryl’s cottages and although it was too cold for us to swim we enjoyed walking along the water and watching the seals or just sitting on the the beachfront chairs or cottage deck and taking in the beautiful scenery. Away from the cottage we enjoyed biking and hiking and taking drives to quiet local villages. The ferry terminal was only 5 minutes away so we took an easy day trip over to Pictou, Nova Scotia. For digitally inclined visitors the satellite television and internet work well and we had good cell phone service at the property. Although this is a great “get away from it all” location there is a nice grocery store plus restaurants/services in nearby Montague and Charlottetown is only about a 40 minute drive away. We would definitely recommend the property to a friend or relative and hope to stay at Portside again someday.

Beautiful Home minutes to the ferry to Nova Scotia
This is a lovely place to stay on PEI. It is less than 5 minutes to the ferry back to Nova Scotia. The property is beach front and that is shared by 2 other cottages. There are lounge chairs and a hammock on the beach, so it is comfortable to spend time relaxing there and the water is warm enough to swim in. Now for the cottage. It is casually, yet beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed to make meals, including spices, flour, oil, etc. There is a fireplace in the main room for chilly evenings. Lots of towels, beach towels, blankets, etc. Everything needed for a comfortable stay. We met Darryl when we checked in and he was available to give advice about that area of PEI. He is the perfect host! We would love to return to this place.

Starboard Cottage
My wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing and enjoyable week by the sea in the Homeport Starboard cottage from July 7-14 2018. The cottage was very comfortable and well supplied. Darryl MacQueen, our PEI host, made every effort to address all our needs. The cottage is nicely located close to the shore. We loved the low tides, when we walked onto the sandbars. We could easily walk all the way to Wood Islands ferry terminal. Great clam digging with the giant bar clams. Lots of crabs & other sea life. We love shells, and they were plentiful.

Portside Cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Homeport by the Sea. The cottage was very comfortable, clean, and the view was great. At low tide it was fun to go out on the beach and check the tide pools. Darryl (and Chase the dog) were wonderful hosts. We enjoyed learning about lobster fishing. Darryl was able to supply us with the freshest lobster we had ever eaten. So glad we visited in lobster fishing season! I recommend this property without hesitation. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Aft Cottage
A very cute cottage with everything you need. We stayed 3 nights after a busy few days of Highland Dance in Charlottetown. We were looking for some down time. This cottage was the perfect place for the 6 of us. We had our 2 teenage daughters, our 11 month old baby and a family friend. The layout and spacious bedrooms fit us all perfectly. It is such a great little house.
We loved walking down to the beach and beachcombing for shells and sea glass.
Cottage has good WIFI and SAT TV. Lots of amenities. We used the washer and dryer right when we arrived.
Darryl was super accommodating making sure we had a crib set up for us when we arrived, beach toys for the little man, and a bug smoker thing to help keep the mosquitoes down when we were outside. The cottage was a little walk to the beach but with our little guy with us, it was perfect. We also enjoyed the walk down as it wasn’t too far.
NOTE – bring bug spray if you plan to be outside (walk to the beach)
