Homeport cottages are down a completely private lane on a 20 acre parcel that faces the Northumberland Strait on the southernmost tip of P.E.I. Crow's Nest is tucked in by the woods about 500 feet from the water. Sun doesn't reach the deck very heavily until about 11 AM most mornings. If you like a shady location in the morning during the hot summer months, you will like this spot. You can expect a few mosquitoes with the darker coolness in the mornings and evenings. but when the sun comes out, they wont last long. We have a screen that can go over the umbrella on the deck as well.
The South Shore has the warmest water and calmest seas on the Island. The cove is shaped like a big horseshoe, and we are right in the middle. Enjoy beautiful sunrise/sunsets. The property has a beautiful 1000 foot long white and red sandy beach, and sandbars go pretty far out at low tide. The cottages are well spaced apart (600-1000 feet) and they have their own separate access to the secluded beach, with lots of room for everyone to have their own privacy on the beach. You can search for bar clams, rock crabs, sand dollars, and hermit crabs on the sandbars at low tide, as well as walk for miles and explore in the tide pools or just relax on the warm sand and look for sea glass and other treasures along the shore. Great for swimming and fun for kids to build sandcastles.
There is plenty of room on the beach and lots of large umbrellas with wooden tables, and chaise loungers to catch some shade on hot afternoons. Seals can be spotted sunbathing near the lighthouse.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Homeport by the Sea. The cottage was very comfortable, clean, and the view was great. At low tide it was fun to go out on the beach and check the tide pools. Darryl (and Chase the dog) were wonderful hosts. We enjoyed learning about lobster fishing. Darryl was able to supply us with the freshest lobster we had ever eaten. So glad we visited in lobster fishing season! I recommend this property without hesitation. Wish we could have stayed longer.

What a wonderful place to relax. We had a fantastic time here. The cottage was very spacious and extremely clean. Everything you need is provided! It has a beautiful deck with lots of seating and a bbq. You are only seconds from the ocean! Low tide is super fun with lots to explore and see. You can even walk out to the light house! Darryl the owner is super nice! He brought us some mackerel down and showed our son how to gut and prepare his own fish...it was delishious. Lots of sand toys and a playground for the kids to play with. If you like clams you can dig for them yourself and coom them up...I am sure Darryl would help if you needed along with his super cute dog Chase! We had a great time and hope to visit again!

Six women thoroughly enjoyed our time at Darryl's "Aft Cottage". Due to unexpected circumstances we found ourselves with nowhere to stay for our get-together. Darryl came to our rescue and his private, homey, comfortable and immaculate cottage was perfect for us. It was well stocked with all the amenities needed for our mini vacation. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. While gazing out at a little blast of winter the wood stoves kept us warm and toasty inside. The bedrooms were nicely furnished and the beds cozy. The setting is picturesque with a gently sloping meadow to the sandy beach we were encouraged to explore. We all had a great time and Darryl has definitely raised the bar.

We've stayed with Homeport twice now, once with Portside and once with Starboard and Portside. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience both times. Quiet and private on a fantastic beach with a great amount of exposure at low tide for ankle OR knee deep exploration. It's very clean and well maintained and Darryl is a very friendly and attentive host, Great guy! Never met Leslie but I'm sure you're a gem too It's P.E.I after all and everybody seems happy to see you. It's located on the quiet end of P.E.I but there's still plenty to do without all hubbub of the center Island vacationing crowd. We LOVE that. We'll definitely be going back, thanks for everything!
